Great Ocean Rd & Phillip Island Penguin Parade
Two highlights in two days! This trip will take you to Victoria’s two most visited attractions with an overnight stay in Apollo Bay.
Starting out from Melbourne we will actually travel inland to the end of the Great Ocean Rd first, so we can wind our way to the main attractions first. We’ll beat the crowds of the many one day tours out of Melbourne by arriving at the 12 Apostles around noon.
With a traditional fish and chip lunch in Port Campbell, we’ll have time to see London Bridge, Locha Ard Gorge and if time permits a walk through Maits Rest Rainforest in glorious late afternoon light.
Our first day will conclude in our favorite town- Apollo Bay for a comfortable night at a choice of accommodation options.
The following day we continue along the Great Ocean Rd, taking in wild koalas at Kennett River, wild Kangaroos in Anglesea, Bells Beach and a myriad of photo stops the most spectacular coastal route in Australia.
After a lunch in historic Queenscliff, we board the car ferry across Port Phillip Bay to the Mornington Peninsula. If time permits, we can stop for a swim or sample wines from the many superb wineries while en route to Phillip Island for the famous Penguin Parade. We’ll arrive with tickets to the Penguins Plus Experience and marvel at the world’s smallest penguins making their way back to their burrows.
All that in two days?- You bet!. It’s a fantastic tour and the overnight stay in Apollo Bay is always a highlight missed by many travellers that do these tours over two separate days.
