Great Ocean Rd/ Grampians National Park
We believe that these two regions when linked together offer one of the best itineraries in the world. With a plethora of scenery, abundance of wildlife and some of the most brilliant food and wine experiences Australia can offer.
Depending on your interests, we will put together an itinerary that’s sure to please. For those that have a focus on food and wine here is a sample itinerary:
Follow our One Day Itinerary until Apollo Bay where you’ll spend the night at your choice of Chris’s of Beacon Point, Chocolate Gannets, Captains at the Bay. The restaurants to consider are outstanding and we recommend Chris’s, The Vista or for that truly local experience- The Apollo Bay Hotel.
On Day 2 we continue along the Great Ocean Rd, taking in extra stops not covered in our One Day Tour and sampling great cheeses along foodie trail. Port Fairy is our overnight stop tonight and it’s important we arrive with time to explore this fascinating and historical icon of Victoria. Staying at either Oscars or Douglas on the River and dining at a list of local favourites, this will be a truly relaxing indulgence.
A late start we’ll head toward the Grampians via Tower Hill Wildlife reserve. This hidden secret is an extinct volcano crater that erupted over ten thousand years ago. It is now home to wild kangaroos, koalas, emus and offers some of the greatest views between the Great Ocean Rd and Grampians. Our chosen destination in the Grampians is one of our truly favourite places. The Royal Mail Hotel sits at the Southern end of the Grampians National Park. For those that are keen, after arriving, we have the chance to climb either Mt Sturgeon or Mt Abrupt. These are walks that rival anything Australia can boast, with views from the summits across a timeless mountain range. After such a memorable walk, you will be rewarded with a gastronomic delight in dining at the Royal Mail Hotel. Whether you choose the degustation menu or the Bistro menu, this is the perfect setting to celebrate the region’s ability in producing an array of stunning flavors.
On Day 4, we traverse through the National Park and take in stops like The Pinnacle, The Balconies and MacKenzie Falls before driving back to Melbourne with stops at Best’s Winery and Mt Langhi Ghiran Winery- two of Australia’s most famous wineries.
