Being born and bred in Melbourne, The Private Tour Guide is extremely proud of this wonderful city and reckon we can help you understand why it’s constantly voted ‘The world’s most liveable city’.
In our opinion, what sets Melbourne apart is the precincts just out of downtown that have evolved since WW2 when immigration to the city occurred on a huge scale.
The way Melbourne links these precincts together with a tapestry of colours, cultures and flavours is where we focus our tour and why we reckon this city tour will have you wishing you booked a few extra days in Melbourne.
Although Melbourne has a famous Chinatown in the heart of the city, the often missed area for tourists is Victoria St.
There’s a plethora of Vietnamese restaurants here so we’ll grab a table at an old favourite and order some great local treats for lunch including a plate of Salt and Pepper squid, a dish that’s fast becoming the most ordered meal in Melbourne.
After all this food, a walk might be a good idea so let us show you our famous sports precinct and wander over to the Royal Botanical Gardens for a stroll.
We’ll finish the tour with a walk through downtown, taking in Melbourne’s famous Federation Square and the mesmerizing alleys and laneways that are the true pulse of our thriving city. You’ll hardly be hungry but we’ll grab a cup cake from our friends at Little Cupcakes for dessert before wondering through the maze of small streets. Cafes, fashion designers, street art and so much more will captivate your senses and make you realize why Melbourne has developed it’s unique ‘worldy’ identity through this area of downtown.
