Private Tour Phillip Island
The Penguin Parade is one of Australia’s premier wildlife attractions and receives millions of visitors year after year.
Situated on Phillip Island in South Eastern Victoria, a visit to Melbourne is not complete without seeing the world’s smallest Penguins returning to their nesting burrows at night after a day of fishing in the Southern Ocean.
The tour also visits Phillip Island’s Koala Conservation Centre and the spectacular scenery of The Nobbies with Australia’s largest fur seal colony and countless ocean birds nesting in the area.
The Private Tour Guide knows this area well and will endeavour to keep you away from the masses of crowds that arrive each day.
The Tour: Once you’re comfortable in our private touring vehicle, we’ll head Sth East and talk about the day. If time permits we’ll visit a small family owned winery in the Bass Hills and taste some handcrafted wines in an old cow milking shed.
Once on Phillip Island we make a visit to the protected Koala Conservation Centre and walk the treetop boardwalks alongside koalas living in their natural habitat. There will be chances to see baby koalas being carried by their mothers (seasonal) and Rangers on hand to give their insight into the Centre’s role in the protection of Australia’s most adorable creature.
We continue our journey to rugged coastline and breathtaking scenery of The Nobbies. The photography here is outstanding and you’ll be taken to the most scenic points on the boardwalks for some thrilling views. The area is also a breeding ground for Ocean Gulls, countless wild Wallabies and of course penguins. (you may even get a sighting of one before we reach the Penguin Parade)
We take an incredible coastal road to arrive at the evening highlight- The Penguin Parade. There are few wildlife attractions in Australia that are as moving as the Penguin Parade. Every night, 30 minutes after the sun drops below the horizon, the world’s smallest penguins return from a full day of fishing and return to their burrows via the natural dunes. We choose the Penguins Plus experience (subject to availability) as we believe it offers the most spectacular viewing experience.
